We dance together.

We dance to-gather.

We dance TWO-get-THERE!

 Hi, There!

Yes, I am a Transformation & Communication Coach and I am a Social Dancer!

More specifically a Brazilian Zouk Dance Instructor.

What’s Brazillian Zouk

I know what you are wondering…

How do social dancing and transformational coaching come together

And the question that I have for you is:

When were they actually ever apart?

If you are a social dancer, which means you dance Brazilian Zouk, Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, or any other partner dance modality, you know as much as I do that our entire dance journey is deeply related to the principles of connection, self-expression, creativity, socialization, inclusion, purpose, confidence and self-worth.

Our dance journey requires as many dance skills as it requires patience, focus, discipline, and an honest relationship with ourselves and with those we share our dances with.

If you are not a social dancer (yet!) but you have practiced any sports or have participated in any group activity, you might have noticed that s you get involved in the social dynamics of that activity, you will face problems and experiences that will ask you to

  • Reflect on how you deal with others,

  • Pay attention to what you feel as you  get involved in that activity,

  • Understand why the heck you are even doing what you are doing?

  • Question how good (or bad) you actually are at that.

Partner dancing is a SOCIAL activity and because of that it is directly related to our capacity to grow, enjoy and belong in social settings. Learning to dance is the perfect opportunity for you to actually understand who you are, what you value and what your boundaries are. Isn’t this the perfect formula for transformational coaching?

For some people dance is just dance! And that’s totally okay! But…

Have you actually ever noticed how relatable our social dance lessons, are from our own life lessons?

Take a minute to reflect on that.

My dance journey

As someone who was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, I feel like dance and music have always been part of my life. I grew up moving, swagging and dancing. Not only because of the cultural influence but also because it was an activity that was commonly present in my house.

My journey in learning how to dance, technically and professionally, started pretty late though. I was 25 when I took my first social dance class and all I was interested in was moving and having fun. (Yes! You can start dancing late and still have a lot of fun!)

It seems that life had a different plan for me other than just having fun and at some point I chose to walk that path. I went from just social dancing, to becoming a solo instructor, teaching in both roles (lead & follow), becoming an organizer, directing a follower’s performance Team, winning J&J competitions and creating many Communication, Personal Development & Social Dance projects.

50% of my coaching clients find me through some social dance setting.

It’s either something I tell them or something they go through on the dance floor which invites them to see the importance of:

  • Doing inner work;

  • Enhancing the quality of their relationships and interactions;

  • Becoming more disciplined, or

  • Simply enjoying their process genuinely.

My dance journey

From dancing for fun in a small town in Rio de Janeiro to teaching Brazilian Zouk Internationally and all over the US there’s been definitely many stories I could tell but here is what I want to share.

Your dance journey is more than just dance technique, posture and mobility.

If you allow yourself, the social dance floor will give you opportunities for you to really see who you are and what you truly want. You will learn a lot about your body and your own movement. You will learn cool moves and learn how to build a non-verbal communication with another dancer. You will enjoy the gift of flowing to the music and the rhythm. AND you will also be invited to face your fears, aspirations, dreams and insecurities.

I’ve learned and I still learn a lot from the social dance setting. ( i may need a whole blog just on that).

What I’ve truly learned?

Every single student I’ve ever taught and helped seeked more than moves when they went social dancing. They wanted to experience connection, belonging, fun, be healthy and find self-expression.

If you are a social dancer and wonder:

- Why do I feel stuck in my dance?

- Why am I not having fun anymore?

- Why can’t I just connect with others?

- Why do I feel so umconfortable in a  close embrace? or

- Why do I feel so insecure?

You might need a Transformational Dance Coach to help you let go of the limiting beliefs, insecurities and fears that do not come from the dance floor but are being triggered by it.

You know what I mean, right?

What if I want to learn how to dance with you?
